Registry Overview
The Windows registry is a
critically important aspect of
your computer system. It stores a
he variety of information regarding your Windows operating
system.
It also houses settings for
Windows software and most other
software applications that are
found on your PC.
Changes To The Windows Registry
When you start an application or a
file, Windows consults its
registry to determine the exact
process to follow and also
determines many of your personal
preferences for these same
programs. Whenever you create or
delete files, amend programs or
files, and install or uninstall
information the Windows registry
should change accordingly so all
new settings and pertinent
information is accurately stored
and used.
Why do Errors Occur
Because of its importance it is
not surprising to learn that the
registry is one of the leading
contributing factors to many
errors, software failures, and
file errors. Exception and fatal
errors can also be attributed to
an entry or number of entries
within the registry. This is
because, over time, the registry
becomes filled with more and more
entries. These entries can become
corrupt for a number of reasons
but regardless of why it has
happened it is likely to cause
serious problems that have fairly
serious consequences in some
cases.
What Is an Error Cleaner?
RegistryFix is a registry cleaner.
Registry cleaning applications
scan through all system files and
registry entries to find any
spurious information. RegistryFix
can find any program interactions,
missing entries, duplicated
entries, and corrupt entries. If
you have never run a registry
cleaner on your system or it is a
long time since you last cleaned
your registry entries then there
is a very good chance that there
are hundreds or even thousands of
problems. It is believed that more
than 90% of all computers have 100
or more problems within the
Windows registry.
Registry Backup And Undo
The registry backup feature of
RegistryFix enables you to backup
the entire registry. This is
particularly useful should you
remove any registry entries that
turn out to be useful. This is
rare but because of the role that
the registry plays and the fact
that the registry entries are so
important, it is possible. Once
you have created a backup point
you can always revert back to this
stage should the need arise.
Scheduling A Regular Clean Of
The Registry
The scheduler is a very handy
addition to the feature set too.
You can schedule RegistryFix to
scan for errors every five
minutes, every five hours, or
every five days. You can even set
it to run every time you start
your computer. Bearing in mind how
often the registry itself changes
and how many errors may be caused
by this it is highly advised that
you use the scheduler. You should
attempt to clean the registry at
least every week but more often is
preferable if you are a heavy
computer user.
Automatic Scanning
The automatic scan is designed
primarily for use by the
non-technical user. This scans for
all registry entries that are
incorrect, duplicated, or missing.
It also provides a solution and
every error is grouped easily and
accordingly. You can choose to fix
one problem at a time or you can
select a particular group and
clean them all at once.
Using The RegistryFix Free Scan
RegistryFix offers a completely
free scan of your registry. This
will enable you to see any
problems that are currently found
in your registry as well as
detailed information regarding
each one. The free scan is
designed to show you how effective
the program is in finding these
errors. While they may not
currently be causing a specific
error, cleaning your registry can
free up masses of hard drive and
system space not only improving
the speed and performance of your
computer in general but making
your system much more robust and
reliable.
