GameTesterGuide offers what many would consider a dream job. Imagine the luxury of sitting at home, in your own comfortable chair, and getting paid just to play video games. It sounds perfect, doesn’t it?

Stating that you can earn hundreds of dollars for each game testing assignment that you finish, GameTesterGuide advertises that you can get paid from $9-$80 per hour, just by playing games and answering a few simple questions. But while it may sound like the perfect job, the main question that needs answering is whether or not this is a real opportunity… or a real scam.

GameTesterGuide grabs the attention right off, boldly asking, “How Would you Like to Get Paid $9-$80 an hour to Play Video Games?” Don’t feel bad. It’s not uncommon to daydream about such wonderful offers. They play on the imagination and tempt the reader, especially when coupled with the photograph of a check, made out to a supposed gamer, in the amount of $758.00. Said gamer’s picture is also added below, sporting a goofy smile, eyes closed and dressed in some ragged-looking casual clothing. Naturally, it leads the reader to think that if this silly-looking individual can make a check for $758.00, why can’t I? Oh yes.. we get the subliminal message, Game Tester Guide is surely saying, “It is not hard to become a video game tester. You too can do it.”

Apparently, it’s very easy to become a video game tester. It can be accomplished in 3 easy steps, GameTesterGuide claims. First off, the company sends you a video game and testing assignment in the mail. Your job is to play this game, fill out the assignment sheet and then mail it back in to the company. The final step is the best one - every two weeks, you receive a paycheck in the mail. Even better, GameTesterGuide says that they are so confident that, if you are unsatisfied for any reason, you will receive a full refund.

It all sounds incredible but, like many things in life, you must always look for the fine print. GameTester Guide even goes so far as to warn you away from any online programs that claim “you can make $150 an hour playing video games online.” According to the website, these are scams and only explain how to play internet games and win prizes, while Game Tester Guide suggests that their program means that you will become a game tester for major game developers. In truth, there is little visible difference between this website and the ones that claim you can make $150 an hour, other than the fact they claim you make $70 dollars less.

Stating that the only qualification that you need is just to be 15 years of age or older (put those kids to work, Mom), GameTesterGuide offers full access to the gametesterguide for a special discount offer of only $34.95. In addition to the game tester’s guide, you also receive 7 other bonuses, ranging from guides on how to make $8-$150 per hour by taking surveys online, to how you can get paid up to $500 per call, just to answer the phone. In fact, for your small fee of $34.95, you get a whopping $2,800.00 in bonuses.

GameTesterGuide does promise that, if you don’t make your first gaming assignment paycheck within 2 weeks, that you can request a full refund within 60 days of your purchase date. Do that, and you will receive your refund, with no questions asked. Of course, it fails to specify a minimum amount for that paycheck. One would imagine that, considering the claims that GameTesterGuide makes, jobs would be abundant but, truth be told, GameTesterGuide is not the hiring company and, therefore, is not able to say how regular this paycheck will be coming in.

In summation, while it all looks good on paper (or on a website, in this case), like many other get-rich-quick ‘opportunities,’ GameTesterGuide doesn’t seem to have much to promise hopeful gamers, aside from the fact that they will soon be out $35.00. If one has spare money to toss on all these long-shot bets, perhaps you will find that one or two will pan out but, in all honesty, it’s probably much wiser to keep hold of that money and look for work elsewhere.
